6 of August – The Transfiguration of the Lord

The Church celebrates 6 August the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord: Jesus, at the approach of His Passion, He appeared to Peter, James and John on the Monte Tabor clothed with honor and talking with Moses and Elijah, to strengthen them before the imminence of the Cross. The scene reminds us that our life is a journey toward heaven but also passes through the Cross and sacrifice.

This vision came in the Apostles an irrepressible happiness; Pedro express in these words: Mr, How well we are here!; if you want to make here three tabernacles: one for Ti, one for Moses and one for Elijah (Mt 17, 4). I was so happy that not even thought of himself, or James and John who accompanied him. San Marcos, which includes catechesis of the same San Pedro, He added he did not know what he said (MC 9, 6). He was still speaking when a bright cloud covered them with and a voice from the cloud said: This is my son, the beloved, in whom I have my complaisance: Hear (Mt 17, 5).

The memory of those moments with the Lord on Mount Tabor were certainly a big help in many difficult and painful circumstances of life of the three disciples. San Pedro will remember until the end of his days.

Let us ask the Virgin to know peace offer with the pain and fatigue that each day brings, with thought put into Jesus, that accompanies us in this life and awaits us, glory at the end of the path.
