The Archdiocese of Valencia announces the suspension of the public celebration of the Mass with the attendance of the faithful in all the temples
Archdiocese of Valencia, 14 March.– The Cardinal Archbishop of Valencia, Antonio Cañizares, after the measures ordered by the Government, communicates the necessary adoption of new emergency provisions following the instructions of government authorities, to stop the pandemic of COVID-19.

In this situation, the Archdiocese of Valencia communicates that Public celebrations of Holy Mass with faithful in all churches are suspended.

Also, appealing to the responsibility it is considered necessary to suspend all previous public acts as well as the Easter processions, attending to the exceptional situation that we all share, and thanking the understanding of all the faithful.

It is reiterated, as indicated in the communication of the Cardinal Archbishop sent yesterday, the request that the faithful follow the Holy Mass through the media and other distribution channels, as the 8 Mediterranean Television, the Youtube Channel of the Cathedral of Valencia, COPE, The 13, RNE and TVE, and that the faithful who participate in the Eucharist, through these means, in person, make spiritual communion, recovering the traditional practice of the Church as a means of ecclesial communion.

To the priests, who will celebrate the Eucharist in private, that include petitions for the eradication of the pandemic, and for the deceased, sick and their families, and also by self-sacrificing healthcare professionals, and dedicated at the cost of their own lives to safeguard ours thinking of the common good.

Also, it is transmitted to the faithful that priests will always remain available for spiritual care, especially for the sick and in need of spiritual comfort.

As also indicated, regarding funeral celebrations, will be done with the celebration of the Word postponing funeral masses.

Regarding scheduled baptisms and weddings, that are carried out following the guidelines of the health authorities, and those that are not programmed, let them be postponed, -in the case of baptisms, except for the danger of death-.

As indicated by the Cardinal Archbishop of Valencia “the great manifestation of solidarity and closeness with the entirety of our people, is that we lift up our prayer and cry out to the Lord, infinite in your compassion, have mercy and bless us. Your blessing is understanding, collaboration, and truth that is done in love. Let us supplicate God and the Blessed Virgin, Mother of the Forsaken, begging for help ”.
