And while most tourists enjoy the mentioned and other sights of this beautiful city in the north of Italy, a small number of them know that just a few kilometers from Verona is one of the most beautiful shrines in the world - the Shrine of Our Lady of the Crown (Madonna of the Crown).

The sanctuary has been erected 1530. years, and acts as if it is ‘carved’ into Mount Baldo not far from Lake Garda, on 773 meters above sea level. The beginnings of the sanctuary go back to 14. century when the site of the sanctuary was a hermitage with a chapel dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and medieval documents testify that monks from the local Abbey of San Zeno in Verona occasionally stayed in the caves of Mount Baldo as early as 11. century.

To build a church, believers from nearby places first built a wooden bridge over the nearby river, and then large steps were built so that pilgrims would not pass through the narrow and dangerous passage. The sanctuary has been remodeled and extended several times over the centuries and has survived both world wars, but due to significant damage caused by the ravages of time, Bishop Giuseppe Carraro confided 1974. year restoration of the Shrine to the architect Guido Tisat.
