Novena to the Virgen de los Desamparados:  Of Saturday 11 to the 19 may, in the evening Mass.

Image wood carving and polychrome stucco, dated around the XVIII century. Luce own and characteristic attributes of the original image is venerated in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken, as patroness of the city.

This is a picture standing, with Baby Jesus in her arms. It can be seen the delicate modeling , Gothic features, logical evolution in regard to the canon of this style. It is decorated with the Cross of the Sovereign Order of Malta since time immemorial.

Volunteer of the Church of San Juan del Hospital, created in 1993 to carry out a necessary social work, He chose the patronage of Our Lady under this advocation so beloved of the Valencians.

This carving is found in the Chapel of the confessionals.

Prayer to the Virgin of the Helpless

God, Father of mercy, to those who venerate the Virgin Mary with the endearing title of Mother of the Forsaken, Grant that protected so tender Mother, Let us never be abandoned by your goodness and let us know how to bring your love and mercy to your most needy children. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

The church has a new image of the Virgen de los Desamparados (2022) made by the Valencian artist Pedro Arrúe that has been donated by a person close to San Juan del Hospital. The new carving of the Virgin is inspired by the primitive sculpture of the Virgen de los Desamparados from the 15th century, which was devoid of a wig, cloak and other items.
